6-Day Vietnam Hang Son Doong Cave Tour

Today, you will get to Dong Hoi, Vietnam. Your tour guide and driver will meet you at the airport and help you check in at the hotel. (Note: Pay attention to your flight schedule. And you need to get there by 3:00 p.m. at the latest.)

From 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., you will be transferred to Phong Nha office in Oxalis and attend a safety meeting. You will meet caving safety experts and other guests participating in this Vietnam Son Doong Cave tour adventure.

After the meeting, you will enjoy a welcome dinner at Oxalis Home and get to know the others. After dinner, return to the hotel and have a good rest.

Safety Meeting:
Safety Meeting is a meeting you have to attend and learn about matters needing attention when you are adventuring. It is not allowed to take a Hang Son Doong tour if you don’t attend the meeting and there’s no refund. After the meeting, you need to sign a disclaimer and travel medical declaration.

A helmet and water bottle will be provided at the meeting. You need to bring your hiking boots (cross-country shoes and non-goretex shoes) and backpack to the meeting to check if they are safe and suitable enough.

After breakfast, you will take an Oxalis bus for about one hour to Doong Village. Start your tour with an adventure to Hang Son Doong Cave.

After a steep of downhill path about 350 meters, you will get to the valley of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park. Walk to the foot of the hill and continue to go through the forest, which will take you about half an hour. During this journey, you will pass by several brooks, and meet the residents of Bru - Van Kieu ethnic group. You will enjoy your lunch at the village chief’s house, and immerse yourself in the vibrant local life.

Go hiking for 3 hours, and arrive at Hang En Cave where you will camp here for the night. Find the tent with your name on it, and walk around the lake at the campsite. Hang En Cave is one of the best cave campsites in Vietnam and will bring you a relaxing and novel experience. Your team will offer dinner for you. Have a good night and prepare for tomorrow’s Hang Son Doong Cave tour.

If you fail to finish the Hang Son Doong Cave tour with the help of the security assistant team, you will be asked to return Oxalis Phong Nha, and no refund. Your security expert and tour guide have the right to let you continue or return. Please understand this is for your safety and that of the rest of the team.

After breakfast, you will explore Hang Son Doong Cave, the world's largest cave. Set off along the river and across several rivers. After climbing up a steep hillside, the entrance of Hang Son Doong will appear before your eyes.

Have lunch at the entrance of Hang Son Doong Cave. You will get some safety equipment before exploring the cave. Your safety expert and tour guide will tell you about attention points. You will learn about how to use a safety belt and climbing hook, and how to get down safely. The safety team will help you when you need it.

When you arrive at the bottom of the ramp at the entrance, you will cross rivers twice and go across the sandbanks and rocky slopes. You will see a huge stalagmite which is called “the hand of a dog”. At about 16:00, you will reach the first campsite in Hang Son Doong before Doline 1, which is called “Level Playing Fields”.

There are toilets and tents for changing your clothes. You can challenge yourself to swim in the chilly underground pool. The temperature of the pool is 17℃(62.6℉) - 22℃(71.6℉). It can help you relax your muscles and rejuvenate from a hard adventure.

Note:
You need to wear hiking boots, a long-sleeved T-shirt, long pants and a life jacket if you want to go to the pool.

Today, you will climb up a steep mountain road winding through a part of the cave. You need to use a rope and a ladder to get to Doline 1, a highlight of the Hang Son Doong tour.

After coming down, you will arrive at the other side of Doline 1, which is called Green Cave. Enjoy amazing scenery, and see the sun shining into the cave.

Have lunch and take breaks here. After lunch, follow the path to the Garden of Edam in Doline 2. Be careful of this fragile area. Explore this forest consisting of various types of trees and plants.

Hike through a sheer and slippery downhill path and reach the campsite. Have a rest here and enjoy the stunning natural scenery.

After having breakfast, you will get some safety equipment and learn about attention points. You will explore the Great Wall in Vietnam, which is one of the best experiences of caving. Be ready to rise to the challenge!

At the bottom of the Great Wall, there is a stainless steel ladder about 18 meters high. You will climb up the ladder, and continue with the rope to reach a large rest area. Have lunch at the top of the Great Wall before leaving the cave. Pass the rocky road, hike through forests, and return to the west route of Ho Chi Minh path. Conclude today’s caving here.

Head to Chay Lap Farmstay, and attend the champagne welcome party and celebration dinner. Stay at Chay Lap Farmstay tonight.
