9-Day Classic China Family Tour to Beijing Xian Shanghai

Welcome to Beijing, the capital of China! After your flight lands at the airport in Beijing, your private guide and driver will meet you and your family and take you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to enjoy. Have a break and prepare for your tomorrow's China family tour.

After breakfast, your tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and take you to Tiananmen Square where a flag-raising ceremony is held. For those who want to explore China's imperial history, the Forbidden City is a must-see. You will visit several main palaces in the Forbidden City. Auspicious beasts decorated on magnificent buildings will be more appealing to the kids.

After visiting the Forbidden City, you will head to Wangfujing Street and taste Zha Jiang Mian (fried sauce noodles).

In the afternoon, you will travel to the Summer Palace. You can relax at the royal garden and take a dragon-shaped boat ride on Kunming Lake. Climbing the mountain or strolling on the beautifully decorated paths is a good way to spend time with your family.

The Temple of Heaven was where ancient emperors worshiped and prayed for golden harvests. Now many local people do morning exercise here. You and your family can join them and learn to do Tai Chi and practice Chinese calligraphy.

Then embark on a sightseeing tour of the Great Wall. You will travel to Mutianyu Great Wall with less crowd. Taking the cable car up the mountain saves you effort. After hiking on the Great Wall and appreciating the splendid natural view, you can take a fun and exciting toboggan ride down the Mutianyu Great Wall.

After enjoying your lunch at a farmhouse restaurant, you will return to Beijing. Head to Beijing Olympic Park (the Olympic Green) where you can visit the iconic Bird's Nest and Water Cube.

In the evening, end the day with a taste of Peking Duck (Beijing Roast Dusk). Peking Duck is a Beijing specialty, featuring its thin and crispy skin.

In the morning, you will take a rickshaw in Shichahai and explore Hutong of old Beijing. Visit the Beijing courtyard which George Walker Bush once visited. Visit a local family at Beijing Hutong and learn Chinese calligraphy. You can try traditional folk games with your kids, like cricket fighting and diabolo (Chinese Yoyo). Then savor copper hot pot for lunch.

In the afternoon, your guide will transfer you to Xi'an by bullet train. After about 5 hours, you will arrive at the train station. After checking in, you can explore Xi'an by yourself.

Visit the Terracotta Army and unveil the amazing man-made wonder. Learn more about the history and culture of the Terracotta Warriors by listening to your guide. Then participate in craft activities and create a mini terracotta warrior as a souvenir.

After lunch, return to Xi'an City and visit Xi'an City Wall, one of the oldest and best-preserved ancient city walls in China. You can ride a bike on the Xi'an City Wall and appreciate the surrounding scenery.

In the evening, discover the bustling Muslim Quarter (Huimin Street) and taste delicious street foods and Muslim cuisine.

This morning, you will visit Shaanxi History Museum and Small Wild Goose Pagoda where you can learn more about the history and culture of Xi'an and China. Then visit a Chinese shadow puppetry workroom and discover how to tell a story by operating puppets. Visit a local family and mingle with locals. You can learn how to make dumplings with your kids. Enjoy a lunch of authentic dumplings and Chinese food.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to the airport and fly to Shanghai. After arrival, your tour guide will take you to the hotel and help you check in.

Spend a fun family time at Shanghai Museum, a top Chinese ancient art museum, and explore the stories behind precious displays. Appreciate traditional Chinese architecture in the classical garden - Yuyuan Garden. Stroll to Yuyuan Old Street and discover local snacks and interesting handicrafts.

Head to Shanghai World Financial Center with a 474-meter-high observation deck where you can overlook the whole of Shanghai. Experience the charm of Shanghai's busy shopping street - Nanjing Road, and enjoy the fun of shopping. Have a short walking tour to the Bund where you can see buildings of different styles and Shanghai's landmarks, like Broadway Mansions and Oriental Pearl TV Tower.

After dinner, you can go on a night cruise on the Huangpu River and appreciate the night view of Shanghai. Iconic Lujiazui and Waibaidu Bridge show their beauty in the light of the night.

Today is a free day in Shanghai. You can spend a happy China family holiday at Shanghai Disneyland Park and experience various rides. If you and your family are interested in traditional Chinese culture and buildings, visiting the nearby water town is a good experience. Suzhou and Hangzhou are not far from Shanghai, so you can take a short tour of Suzhou or Hangzhou and return.
