6-Day Adventurous Socotra Island Tour with Hidden Wonders

On the first day of your arrival on Socotra Island, you will land at the Socotra Airport at around 9:35 or 10:35 AM local time. Then follow the driver who is waiting to take you to the Detwah Lagoon.

You will be marveled at the crystal-clear waters and white sand beaches. Enjoy lunch and have a break here.

In the afternoon, you will travel to a 400-meter hill, where you can appreciate the famous, captivating bottle trees (Socotra Desert Rose). You can witness the beach and the lagoon becoming even more charming under the beautiful sunset.

Your campsite will be located on the beach beside the Detwah Lagoon.

Kind Reminder:
You need to hike and climb the hill to reach the place where you can see the bottle trees and the sunset. The round trip takes about 2-4 hours. This is a difficult road, with steep slopes and gravel. Therefore, this activity is not recommended for tourists with underlying diseases or no exercise habits. In addition, headlamps need to be equipped when returning.

At 7 AM in the morning, you will head for Qalansiya fishing village. Take a boat from Qalansiya to Shuab Beach. If you are lucky, you will see dolphins leaping out of the sea. Whether it can be seen depends on the weather and wind conditions of the day.

Next, you will visit Ellai, the caveman of Socotra. If he happens to be at home, you can listen to the Caveman talk about how he protects the Marine ecosystem. There is a possibility that he will take you to the sea to catch fresh oysters and pen shells.

At noon, you will return to the campsite for lunch. Take a break and then head to Diksam Plateau. On the way, you will pass by the meteorite crater and rusting Russian tanks before you see the Dragon Blood Tree. Later on, you will step into Firmihin Dragon's Blood Tree Forest and walk around to observe the Alien-like Dragon's Blood Trees.

Tonight, you will camp in the Dragon's Blood Tree Forest and immerse yourself in this mysterious atmosphere.

Kind Reminder:
1. The beach from Ellai's cave to the campsite is relatively shallow, which makes it impossible for the boat to move forward, so this section of the road needs to be walked.
2. The campsite tonight depends on the weather conditions. In case of cloudy and rainy weather, for safety reasons, it is necessary to move to other locations (such as Amoak Beach).

Get up early today and wait for the stunning sunrise at Firmihin Dragon's Blood Tree Forest. Capture the beautiful scene of sunlight filtering in through the canopy of the Dragon's Blood Trees. After admiring the sunrise, venture to Amoak Beach and enjoy the scenery where the desert meets the sea. It takes only 20 minutes to walk across the sand dunes to reach the place where the desert meets the sea, if you're interested.

Next, explore Degub Cave. The entrance of the cave is huge and rather eerie, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of the sea and the coastline. The cave is filled with a strong smell of bats.

At noon, return to the camp at Amoak Beach for a meal and rest. In the late afternoon, continue to Zaheq Sand Dunes and enjoy a breathtaking sunset. In the evening, camp overnight at Zaheq Sand Dunes.

If you don't camp at Firmhin Dragon Blood Trees Forest on the second day of the trip, today's itinerary will be adjusted.

In the morning, you will travel to Kalysan Canyon with white cliffs and crystal clear pools. There will be approximately a 20-minute hike to Kalysan Canyon. You can experience cliff jumping, swim in clear water, and appreciate the stunning beauty of Kalysan Canyon.

At noon, head to the Homhil Protected Area campsite for lunch and rest. In the afternoon, hike in the Homhil Protected Area and touch the unique dragon's blood trees and bottle trees. Later, you can swim in the refreshing infinity pool.

This morning is snorkeling time at Dihamri Marine Reserve. Dihamri boasts one of the richest coral reefs in Socotra Island. You can observe many marine creatures, such as colourful fish, reef sharks, turtles, and more.

After snorkeling, head to the secret, pristine Erissel at the easternmost point of Socotra Island. Capture the scene of the coastline intersecting with the blue Indian Ocean. This is a giant whale bone on the beach.

Travel to Arher Dunes and camp here for the night. The Arher Dunes are the highest dunes on Socotra Island. End today with a beautiful sunset on the dune.

Head to Hadibo and check in at the hotel.
